Chantal Lauby (born March 23, 1948 in Gap ) is a French TV presenter , comedian , actress , director and screenwriter . She was a co-founder and member of the comedy group Les Nuls .

Life

Chantal Lauby was born in Gap and spent her childhood in the Auvergne . She began her career as a television announcer on the public television channel FR3 Auvergne. Her work took her to the Côte d'Azur , where she met Bruno Carette .

In the late 1980s she founded the comedy group Les Nuls together with Bruno Carette, Alain Chabat and Dominique Farrugia . The group became known for their television programs Objectif: Nul and Le JTN (le Journal télévisé Nul) on the French pay-TV channel Canal + . From October 1990 to March 1992 the group starred in the television program Les Nuls L'émission , a broadcast in the style of Saturday Night Live .

After the group broke up and each member pursued separate careers, Chantal Lauby took on her first TV roles as an actress, and from 2000 on, increasingly roles in movies. In 2001 she played a small role in the film Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra by Alain Chabat.

In 2014 she became known to a larger German-speaking audience through the role of Marie Verneuil in the French comedy Monsieur Claude and his daughters by Philippe de Chauveron . Here she plays the wife of Claude Verneuil (played by Christian Clavier ), who are the proud parents of four adult daughters who, to the chagrin of their parents, marry sons-in-law with a migration background. The film had over eleven million admissions in France alone, making it one of the most successful films in France.

Lauby is the mother of Jennifer Ayache (* 1983), singer in the French rock band Superbus .
