Christian Clavier (born May 6, 1952 in Paris ) is a French actor , screenwriter and director .

Life

Clavier began his comedic career as a co-founder of the comedy group Le Splendid . He appeared in stage programs with his former schoolmates Thierry Lhermitte , Gérard Jugnot and Michel Blanc . The Strandflitzer films later emerged from the programs .

Clavier has also worked as a screenwriter since the 1970s. In 2011 he made his directorial debut with the film Fortunately it stays in the family . His brother Stéphane Clavier is a director.

Private

Christian Clavier was married to Marie-Anne Chazel , who took on the role of Ginette in The Visitors and The Knights of Time . They have one child together.

On June 13, 1998 he was made a Knight of the Ordre national du Mérite . In 2005 he was promoted to officer. In 2008 he became a Knight of the Legion of Honor .

He is a friend of the former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and lived in London from 2014 to 2018 , since then in Saint-Gilles in the Brussels-Capital Region .
