Asterix and the secret of the magic potion (Original title: Astérix: Le Secret de la potion magique ) is a French computer animation film directed by Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy from 2018. The film is based on the Asterix comics by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo and was made in Published December 2018 in France. The cinema release in Germany was on March 14, 2019.

The druid Miraculix has an accident while cutting mistletoe, which makes him aware that he has to find a successor to whom he can entrust the recipe for the magic potion. He sends a group of wild boars to his fellow druids to call a meeting, whereby the smallest wild boar gets lost and ends up in the house of the seedy Demonix, who has been cast out of the community of the druids. Both the villagers and the other druids react in horror to Miraculix's request: Asterix with the argument that the accident was unique, and the druids because there are hardly any qualified successors for Miraculix. Suddenly Demonix appears and steals the name of the only, very talented young druid. In order to get into possession of the magic potion formula, he makes his way to the said druid upstart, after he has made the Romans aware of the security of the famous Gallic village. Since Asterix and Obelix are on the road longer looking for potential successors, the other men besides Troubadix accompany them. Until then the women alone defend the village against the Roman occupation forces, whereby they have to make do with the remaining supplies of magic potions.

This story is not based on any of the previous Asterix stories, but was written by Alexandre Astier for this film. Astier co-directed with Louis Clichy, as in the previous film Asterix in the Land of the Gods .

The IMDb rated the film with 6.9 out of 10 stars.
In France, the film was one of the most successful films by the end of the year with 3.91 million admissions.
