Chaos Walking is a science fiction film by Doug Liman that is due to hit German cinemas on February 4, 2021. The film is based on several novels by Patrick Ness .

action

In a dystopian world where there are almost no women, all residents can share their thoughts through a stream of images, words and sounds called noise. The women had been killed by a virus. But then the young Todd Hewitt meets a woman named Viola Eade, who could hold the key to the many secrets of this world.

production

The film is based on the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness , which consists of the novels The Knife of Never Letting Go , The Ask and the Answer and Monsters of Men . In Germany, the youth book trilogy was published under the title New World . In October 2011 Lionsgate Entertainment acquired the worldwide distribution rights for their film adaptation. This is the second book by Ness to be made into a film after seven minutes past midnight from 2016.

After Robert Zemeckis was still under discussion as a director at the beginning of 2013 , it was announced in June 2016 that Doug Liman would take over this work on the film. Gary Spinelli , Charlie Kaufman and Jamie Linden adapted Ness' novel for the film.

Tom Holland took on the role of Todd Hewitt in the film, and Mads Mikkelsen stars as the cruel mayor of Prentisstown in the role of a villain. Demian Bichir plays Todd's adoptive father, Ben Moore, Kurt Sutter has taken on the role of his second adoptive father, Cillian Boyd, Nick Jonas plays Davy Prentiss Jr., the mayor's son, and David Oyelowo stars as Aaron, a military leader in this new one World. Cynthia Erivo plays Hildy and Oscar Jaenada will take on the role of Wilf in the film.

Filming began on August 7, 2017 in Montreal . Further recordings were made in the UK and Iceland. Shooting ended in November 2017. However, re-shoots had been announced for May 2018.

The film should be in German cinemas on February 28, 2019 and in US cinemas on March 1, 2019. The launch was later postponed to 2020 for reasons unknown. A cinema release in Germany is now planned for February 4, 2021.
