Charlie Barnett (born February 4, 1988 in Sarasota , Florida ) is an American actor , best known for his leading role as Peter Mills in the television series Chicago Fire .

Life

Charlie Barnett grew up on a sailboat in Florida until he was seven. His mother is Swedish and formerly a Mormon , and his father is a boat builder from Minnesota . Barnett's hobbies include sailing and classic cars. He's also a fan of the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears . Barnett lived in New York City , Los Angeles, and Chicago .

He discovered his love for the theater when he was six years old. Barnett appeared in a few operas and musicals. The summer after graduating from Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida, he attended a Carnegie Mellon University summer musical and theater program. He graduated from Juilliard School in 2010 .

He had his first role in 2006 in the film Circus Camp . At Outfest 2011, Barnett received the Grand Jury Award for his performance in Private Romeo . Barnett is best known for his role as Peter Mills in the fire service television series Chicago Fire , for which he was in front of the camera from 2012 to 2015. He was seen in the same role in their spin-off Chicago PD . In 2019 Barnett starred in the LGBT series " City Stories ".
