Cheng I-Ching ( Chinese 鄭怡靜 , born February 15, 1992 in Guiren (Tainan) ) is a Taiwanese table tennis player . At the World Cup 2016 she won the silver medal.
Career
Cheng I-Ching has appeared internationally since 2006, from this year she took part in both youth and adult world championships, played on the World Tour and in the World Junior Circuit. In July 2006, she entered the world rankings at number 195. In her five participations in the Youth World Championships from 2006 to 2010, she reached the quarter-finals seven times in singles, doubles and mixed and with the team positions between 6th and 9th. At the Youth Asian Championships in 2008 and 2010 she came in singles until the semi-finals, in November 2008 she made it into the top 100 of the world rankings. In 2009 she took part in the Asian Cup for the first time, where she finished ninth.
In doubles with Huang Yi-Hua she played successfully on the Pro Tour in 2010, including gold at the Indian Open, silver at the Japan Open and bronze at the Hungary, China and Qatar Open. This qualified them for the Pro Tour Grand Finals, where they could reach the semi-finals. In the same year Cheng I-Ching took part in the Asian Games, where she made it to the quarterfinals in doubles and mixed. Further participation in the Grand Finals followed from 2011 to 2014, with Cheng I-Ching and Huang Yi-Hua winning silver in 2012 and 2013. In 2013, Cheng I-Ching also reached the individual semi-finals of the China Open and thus her first individual medal placement on the World Tour. In 2014 she took part again in the Asian Games and for the first time in the World Cup , where she reached the round of 16.
At the 2015 World Cup , she made it to the eighth-finals in singles and into the quarter-finals in doubles, and at the end of the year she took part in the World Cup for the second time , where she again reached the second round. At the Austrian Open she also came in second, after she was ranked 5th in the world. Kasumi Ishikawa , and moved up in the world rankings for the first time in the top 20. At the Team World Cup in 2016 , she achieved a 9: 1 record and was only beaten in the semi-finals by the Chinese Li Xiaoxia , with which she played a major role in the Taiwanese team winning bronze - the second World Cup medal after Silver 2000 . In August it moved up to tenth place in the world rankings. She also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she reached the quarter-finals in the individual, but lost the first game against the Hong Kong team as a team. At the World Cup in October, she reached the final in the absence of the Chinese players and won silver after a loss to Miu Hirano . The 2017 World Championship ended for her in the round of 64 singles, in which she was eliminated by the Chinese Mu Zi , but she won silver in mixed doubles with Chen Chien-An . At the World Cup she lost to Zhu Yuling in the semifinals , but defeated last year's winner Miu Hirano in the bronze medal match. She was able to achieve this third place in 2018 after she had been eliminated with the team earlier in the year at the Team World Cup in the round of 16.
In 2019 she formed a mixed doubles with Lin Yun-ju , with whom she won gold at the China and Hong Kong Open and reached the semifinals at the Grand Finals .
In the 2011/12 season Cheng I-Ching played with the women's team of MTV Tostedt in the German Bundesliga.
