Cheryl Rae Tiegs (born September 25, 1947 in Breckenridge , Minnesota , United States ) is an American model with sporadic trips to acting.

Life

The daughter of a funeral director grew up mostly in Alhambra, California , and began showing off swimwear from local retailer Cole of California while she was still in high school . A promotional photo of it was also featured in a Cole ad in the teenage magazine Seventeen , which is popular among young people , so that Tiegs quickly became known and the fashion magazine Glamor booked her for a shoot with the well-known actress Ali MacGraw .

This is where the blonde got her first cover photo, followed by more covers on Seventeen, Elle , Vogue and Harper's Bazaar . In Sports Illustrated's special swimwear issue, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue , Cheryl Tiegs appeared twice on the cover, three times on the cover of Time magazine and four times on the cover of People magazine. Cheryl Tiegs was soon considered the first “supermodel” in the industry alongside Christie Brinkley , who was celebrated as the epitome of the “All American Model”, especially in the USA.

Lists like “100 Most Beautiful People” from People magazine or “100 Hottest Women of All Time” from men's and lifestyle magazine Men's Health also featured Tieg's name several times. In 1980 Cheryl Tiegs developed her own collection of fashion and accessories for the department store chain Sears, Roebuck & Company, and 15 years later her own line of sportswear under the name Cheryl Tiegs Sportwear , which was offered exclusively through the QVC sales channel .

Social engagements, film and television activities, private matters

Cheryl Tiegs has campaigned for all kinds of charitable, social and environmental issues. Sporadically she appears in front of the camera as a guest on TV shows, TV series and individual films. She was married four times: with the director Stan Dragoti , the photographer Peter Beard , Gregory Peck's son Anthony and most recently with the yoga teacher Rod Stryker, who is ten years her junior.
