Christian Reitz (cameraman)

Christian Reitz (born January 11, 1960 in Munich ) is a German cameraman and producer for film and television productions. His activities cover all areas of media production. He is the son of the director and author Edgar Reitz .

Life

Christian Reitz had his first encounter with the medium of film in 1971 when, at the age of eleven, he played the leading role of Jason in the film Das goldene Ding , in which his father Edgar Reitz (together with Ula Stöckl and Alf Brustellin ) directed.

During his physics studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1982, he worked as a photographer for film and theater . He first attracted attention by taking still photos for his father Edgar Reitz's film Heimat , which were published in the illustrated book Heimat - Eine Chronik in Bilder .

After Christian Reitz had gained experience in the camerawork, among other things through his assistant at Gernot Roll , he took over the camerawork for some films in the second and third part of the Heimat trilogy in 1991/1992 and 2003/2004.

Christian Reitz lives in Munich and runs the REITZ_MEDIEN multimedia workshop there . He is also involved in Coop-Filmwerk Reitz & Dillinger and in Reitz & Reitz Medien Produktion, which he founded together with his father Edgar Reitz .

In 2014 he received the German Film Award in the "Best Feature Film" category for the production of Die Andere Heimat .
