Christian Smithers (born August 3, 1992 ) is a Mexican ice hockey player who has played for the Teotihuacan Priests in the Liga Mexicana Elite since 2017 .

Career

Christian Smithers began his career at San Jeronimo. When the semi-professional league Mexicana Élite was founded in 2010 , he moved to the Mayan Astronomers , one of the four founding clubs of the league. After spending the 2012/13 season with league rivals Pachuca Hawks , he returned to San Jeronimo in 2015. Since 2017 he has been playing for the Teotihuacan Priests again in the Liga Mexicana Elite.

International

Smithers played for Mexico in the junior division at the U18 World Championships in 2008 and 2010 in Division III and in 2009 in Division II as well as in the U20 championships in 2009 , 2010 and 2012 in Division II and 2011 in Division III.

With the men's national team in his country, Smithers first took part in the 2011 Division II World Championships . Also in 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2018 he played with the Central Americans in Division II. He also stood in the pan-American ice hockey tournaments in 2014, 2015 and 2016, where he took second place in each case, and in the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games on the ice.
