Christian Wilhelm Siegmund Freiherr von Posadowsky (born November 3, 1725 in Aschersleben ; † February 17, 1791 Pilgramsdorf ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the 6th Dragoon Regiment .

Life

origin

His parents were Lieutenant General Karl Friedrich von Posadowsky (1695–1747) and his wife Freiin Eleonore Elisabeth, née von Seydlitz (1702–1796).

Military career

Since only the eldest son inherited the dignity of the count, Christian Wilhelm received the title of baron. In 1745 he went into Prussian service and joined the Garde du Corps . He fought in the Second Silesian War . In the battle of Hohenfriedberg he was also a standard squire with thrush . On June 1, 1745 he became a cornet with his brother in the Garde du Corps. During the Seven Years' War he rose quickly, he became a lieutenant in 1757, a cavalry captain in 1758 and a major in October 1758 and a lieutenant colonel in 1759. He fought in the battles of Thrush , Lobositz , Prague , Kolin , Roßbach , Leuthen , Zorndorf , Hochkirch , Liegnitz and Torgau .

In 1763 he became commander of the regiment, in 1770 he was transferred to the "Krockow" dragoon regiment as commander . In 1772 he was promoted to colonel . In 1775 he received the order Pour le Mérite from Frederick II at a review and in 1777 the "Meyer" dragoon regiment. In the same year, on May 20, 1777, he was also promoted to major general . During the War of the Bavarian Succession he was with Prince Heinrich's army. In the winter of 1778/79 he was charged with the exchange of prisoners.

On May 20, 1787, he was also promoted to lieutenant general. In December 1787 he was released with a salary of 1500 thalers. He withdrew to his Pilgramsdorf estate and bought the Klein-Rimmersdorf estate in 1789. He died in 1791 and was buried in the local Protestant church. His tombstone was to the right of the altar.

His sister Anna Eleonore Charlotte Friederike von Pfeil and Klein-Ellguth (1735–1813) inherited his property.

family

On September 5, 1760, he married Henriette Caroline Elisabeth von Hohenberg-Fürstenstein (1731–1764), a daughter of Count Johann Heinrich von Hohenberg-Fürstenstein (1705–1758) and his wife, Countess Louise Friderike von Stollberg († 1764). She was the widow of Heinrich Ludwig Karl von Hochberg-Fürstenstein (1714–1755). His wife died shortly after the stillbirth of a daughter.
