Christine Brand

Christine Brand (born April 11, 1973 in Burgdorf ) is a Swiss writer and journalist .

Life

Christine Brand grew up in Oberburg in the Emmental . She completed her training as a teacher at the teachers' seminar in Langenthal . After a traineeship at the Berner Zeitung , she became an editor there. From 1996 to 2004 she was an editor and court reporter in the «Canton» section of the newspaper Der Bund , from 2003 onwards with a reduced workload. From 2003 to 2005 she was the correspondent for the canton and city of Bern in a pool of the daily newspapers Basler Zeitung , Aargauer Zeitung , Südostschweiz and St. Galler Tagblatt . In 2005 she completed an apprenticeship as a television journalist on the editorial staff of the “ Rundschau ” of Swiss television , with two external internships in the Federal Palace and in Geneva . From 2006 to 2008 she was editor of the “Rundschau”. From June 2008 to the end of 2017 she was an editor at NZZ am Sonntag in the “Background and Opinions” section.

In 2013 she was awarded the media prize of the Swiss Bar Association for a court report. She received the SRG SSR idée suisse media award for a report on family murders .

As a lecturer in the journalism course at adult education in Zurich, she teaches "storytelling" and "reportage".

After being signed by the Blanvalet Verlag of the Random House publishing group , she set up as a freelance writer in 2018. In journalism she is still working as a freelance writer.

Brand is a member of the association of authors' group of German-language crime literature - The Syndicate and Authors of Switzerland . She lives in Zurich .
