Christine Streuli became known for her large-format, exceptionally colorful and ornamental pictures. Her paintings were often referred to as color manifestos, which were inspired by a wide variety of cultural sources and which the artist united to form a dense cosmos. It occupies a special position in contemporary art because it is looking for new forms of expression in painting that can neither be clearly assigned to objectivity nor to abstraction .

The pictures are always built up in several layers, with the artist using a wide variety of painterly methods. Christine Streuli rarely works with the classic painting tool of the brush, rather she sprays, pours or splashes paint on her canvases or uses printing techniques. She uses rakes, stencils, scratches or other objects. Often she chooses a garish, almost exaggerated color scheme. Christine Streuli's exhibitions are mostly characterized by room-filling stagings, in which the painting shines far beyond the edges and pictures and extends over the walls, floor and ceiling.

Her works can be seen in extensive exhibitions at home and abroad, including in 2007 she represented Switzerland at the 52nd Venice Biennale . Her work has been shown at the Aargauer Kunsthaus , the Kunsthaus Langenthal , the Kunstmuseum Luzern , the Kunstmuseum Bonn , the Haus am Waldsee in Berlin and the Berlinische Galerie . Her pictures are represented in numerous public collections, including the Kunsthaus Zürich , the Berlinische Galerie - State Museum for Modern Art, Photography and Architecture, the Museum Folkwang Essen and the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf .
