history

In 1928 Karl Schuster became the new Catholic pastor in Oberkirchen . Schuster, who was also responsible for the pastoral care of the Catholics in the middle Ostertal , and thus also for Hoof, suggested the construction of a Catholic church in Hoof. So that the project could be implemented, Schuster founded a church building association in 1930 . In 1932, the building project was approved by the responsible rectory in Breitenbach . On July 22, 1934, the foundation stone was laid in the presence of the Speyer bishop Ludwig Sebastian . In the same year the church was completed and inaugurated by Bishop Sebastian.

After Pastor Schuster died in 1938, various pastors and chaplains took over the care of the Hoofer Catholics. Above all, the Fathers of the St. Wendel Mission House were active here.

Under Father Emil Künzle, who took over pastoral care from 1966, Hoof was raised to the position of curate . To this day, the Hoofer pastoral care district also includes the towns of Bubach , Marth , the Kingdom of Hof, Niederkirchen , Osterbrücken and Saal .
