Christoph skirts Rath (* 10. March 1973 in Münster ) is a German editor , reporter and since 2001 correspondent of the ZDF .

Life

Christoph Röckerath grew up in Cologne and graduated from the Apostelgymnasium there in 1992 . He lives with his family in Munich .

education

Christoph Röckerath gained his first journalistic experience while working on his school newspaper. Röckerath studied American Studies at the Universities of Bonn , Cologne and Washington . Internships at regional newspapers and local radio stations followed.

Career

Christoph Röckerath has been working for ZDF since 2001. First he worked as a volunteer , from 2002 editor and reporter for the heute editorial team and from the end of 2004 in the same position for the heute-journal . In 2007 Röckerath switched to the ZDF regional studio in Bavaria . From 2009 to 2014 he worked as a correspondent at Studio Washington . Its reporting area covered the United States of America , Central America and the Caribbean to the Panama Canal . From September 2014 to September 2018, Christoph Röckerath was the correspondent and deputy studio manager of the ZDF regional studio in Bavaria. He has been the South America correspondent since October 1, 2018 and heads the ZDF studio in Rio de Janeiro .

Haiti and Mexico

Christoph Röckerath was one of the first German journalists to report after the devastating earthquake in Haiti . He also provided information about the presidential election and the height of the cholera epidemic, as well as violence and child prostitution in the camps . In the summer of 2010, the ZDF report Life after the Quake - the daily madness in Haiti , which, among other things, addresses child slavery in the island state. Christoph Röckerath last reported from Haiti in 2012. He took the drug war in Mexico as an opportunity to report on it on the spot.
