Christoph Wahrstötter (born October 18, 1989 in Kitzbühel ) is an Austrian freestyle skier . He starts in the ski cross discipline .

Career

Wahrstötter, who starts for the SK Hopfgarten, began his sports career as an alpine ski racer . He competed in FIS races from 2006 to 2007 . He completed his first European Cup race in the ski cross discipline in January 2008 in Zweisimmen and came in 37th. He made his debut in the Freestyle Skiing World Cup in January 2010 in St. Johann in Tirol and finished in 70th place. At the 2011 World Championships in Deer Valley , he finished 27th. In January 2012 he finished ninth in St. Johann in Tirol for the first time in the top ten in the World Cup. At the 2013 World Championships in Voss , he finished 36th. In March 2013 he became Austrian ski cross champion.

In the 2013/14 season , Wahrstötter made it into the top ten four times in eleven World Cup appearances. At the last World Cup of the season in La Plagne he achieved a podium finish for the first time with second place and finished the season in tenth place in the Ski Cross World Cup. At the highlight of the season, the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he finished in 20th place. In the 2015/16 World Cup season , he achieved two top 10 placements, including 3rd place in Idre . In the following season 2016/17 he finished in the top ten seven times in the World Cup, including 2nd place in Innichen . At the season highlight, the 2017 World Championships in the Sierra Nevada , he narrowly missed the finals and came in fifth. He finished the season in 7th place in the Ski Cross World Cup.
