Chudów (German Chudow ) is a village in Upper Silesia . Administratively, it is located in the municipality of Gierałtowice (Gieraltowitz) in the powiat Gliwicki (district of Gliwice) in the Silesian Voivodeship .

Chudów is three kilometers east of the municipal seat Gierałtowice (Gieraltowitz), twelve kilometers southeast of the district town Gliwice (Gleiwitz) and 16 kilometers west of the voivodeship capital Katowice .

history

The place arose no later than the 13th century and was first mentioned in 1295-1305 in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis ( Tithe Register of the Diocese of Breslau ) as "Cudow". In 1466 it was mentioned as Chudorf .

In 1742 the place with most of Silesia came to Prussia. The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Additions to the Description of Silesia as Chutow and also as Chudow , belonged to a Mat. Von Wilczeck and was in the district of Beuthen of the estate of Beuthen . At that time he had three farms , a stately castle, a mill, a school, ten farmers, 16 gardeners , three cottagers and 143 residents. In 1865 Chudow consisted of a village and a manor. The manor belonged to the Countess Schaffgotsch-Godulla . The Vorwerke Neuhof, Ballhof, Wallhof and Machow belonged to the manor. At that time the place had ten farmers, 15 gardeners, nine farmhands and 25 local farmers, as well as a tavern, two blacksmiths, two shopkeepers and a butcher. The Catholic residents were parish in Gieraltowitz and the Protestants in Gleiwitz. The Catholic school had 129 students at that time. On July 6, 1873, the district of Beuthen was divided and the place came to the new district of Zabrze (the later district of Hindenburg OS).

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 28 eligible voters voted in place for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 283 for membership of Poland. At Gut Chudow, 13 voted for Germany and 94 for Poland. Chudow came to Poland after the partition of Upper Silesia in 1922. Until 1922 the place was in the district of Hindenburg OS . From 1922 to 1924 the place was in the powiat Rudzki , then he came to the powiat Rybnicki . During the German occupation from 1939 to 1945 he was in the Upper Silesia district.

In 1945 the place came back to Poland and the Silesian Voivodeship and was renamed the Polish Chudów . In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Gliwicki and the new Silesian Voivodeship.
