The 2nd Circuit d'Alger (officially: Circuit International d'Alger ) took place on March 16, 2012 in the Algerian capital, Algiers . The one-day race was part of the UCI Africa Tour 2012 in category 1.2 and formed the conclusion of the Tour d'Algérie that had ended two days earlier , but in which it was not part of the overall standings. The first eight riders received points for the ranking of the Africa Tour.
The race started at the Palace of Culture in Algiers , where the finish line was. The drivers had to complete a total of ten laps of 10.5 kilometers each on the course, which also had a few small climbs.
The Circuit d'Alger was finally won by the Greek Ioannis Tamouridis , who defeated the Eritrean Aron Debretsion Baranceal in a sprint. The other drivers were already a bit behind the top two. Moroccan Ismail Ayoune finished third, 14 seconds behind.
Attendees
At the start were the same teams and drivers as before in the Tour d'Algérie , including national teams from Morocco , Turkey , Tunisia , Libya and Eritrea as well as the Algerian Continental Teams Groupement Sportif Pétrolier Algérie , Geofco-Ville d'Alger , Olympique Team Algérie and Vélo Club Sovac Algérie . From Europe, the Latvian team Rietumu-Delfin , the Danish team Concordia Forsikring-Himmerland and SP Tableware from Greece took part in the race. The Profiline team came from Germany , which featured seven Germans in the starting field at the start of the Algeria tour, two of whom eventually finished the Circuit d'Alger.
