Challenge du Prince 2012

The 3rd Challenge du Prince took place from May 7th to 9th, 2012 in honor of the ninth birthday of the Moroccan Prince Moulay Hassan . The series of three cycling - day race was from the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation (FRMC) under the patronage of King Mohammed VI. organized and was part of the UCI Africa Tour 2012 , where the individual races were each classified in category 1.2. The three competitions together were 428 kilometers long. A total of around 150,000 spectators visited the streets of the race. The three competitions were broadcast internationally on television and radio.

Attendees

The field of participants consisted of African , American and European teams of six drivers each. There were drivers from seven nations at the start, and the race also served the local Moroccans in preparation for the Summer Olympics in London .

Tropheé Princier

The first race of the Challenge du Prince was the Tropheé Princier on May 7th and started with a nine-time round course in Rabat , where the race was opened personally by the Prince after a military parade. After 160 kilometers through Kenitra , Sidi Slimane and Sidi Kacem , among others , the drivers reached the finish line in the city center of Meknes .

Trophée de l'anniversaire

The second race of the Challenge du Prince was the Trophée de l'anniversaire du Prince Héritier on May 8th. On the program was a 139-kilometer route with start and finish in Meknes . From there it went through the places Azrou and Ifrane and from there back again.

35 out of 62 drivers reached the finish.

Trophée de la Maison Royale

The third and final race of the Challenge du Prince was the Trophée de la Maison Royale on May 9th. The competition started in Meknes and led via Khémisset , Al Maâziz and Rommani over a total of 190 kilometers to Tamesna .
