Claude Bonnard (politician)

Claude Bonnard (born December 7, 1922 in Lausanne ; † September 6, 1994 there , entitled to live in Arnex-sur-Nyon and Nyon ) was a Swiss politician ( LPS ).

biography

After studying law at the University of Lausanne , he received his doctorate in 1948. From then on he worked as a lawyer and was from 1959 to 1966 a clerk at the federal court . He later lectured on public law and the code of criminal procedure at the universities of Lausanne and Bern .

From 1971 to 1987 he was State Councilor in the canton of Vaud (Head of the Justice, Police and Military Departments), and for the same period in the National Council, and from 1979 he was President of the FDP-Liberal Fraction of the Federal Assembly and President of the Military Commission. From 1989 to 1993 he was President of LPS Switzerland.

Bonnard was a strong advocate of federalism . From 1978 to 1993 he was President of the Employers' Association of the Swiss Watch Industry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gazette de Lausanne. In 1987 he was at the University of Lausanne for honorary doctorate appointed.

He was a major in the Swiss Army .
