Claude shocks

Claude Pierre Charles Schockert (born January 6, 1940 in Foug , Département Meurthe-et-Moselle , France ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop emeritus of Belfort-Montbéliard .

Life

Schockert was born the son of a metalworker and attended the Catholic school ( Petit Seminaire ) in Renémont . He did his military service in Algeria from 1960 to 1962 before entering the theological college ( Grand Seminaire ) of Nancy . He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1965 and was appointed vicar at Nancy Cathedral .

After several stations, he was the student pastor of the diocese from 1984 to 1994 . From 1990 onwards there was also the task of the student mission at the national level. In 1994 he was appointed vicar general and was responsible for the education and training of priests. Following the appointment of Jean-Paul Jaeger as Bishop of Arras , he was appointed diocesan administrator for the period of the vacancy until the appointment of Jean-Louis Papin as the new Bishop of Nancy.

On March 1, 2000 he was appointed second Bishop of Belfort-Montbéliard. The episcopal ordination donated him on 14 May his predecessor, Bishop Eugène Lecrosnier ; Co- consecrators were Yves Patenôtre , Bishop of Saint-Claude , and Jean-Louis Papin, Bishop of Nancy. In the French bishops' conference he was a member of the commission for general missionary tasks.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on May 21, 2015.
