Claus Heinrich Gattermann

Claus Heinrich Gattermann (* 1968 ) is a German historian and writer .

Life

Gattermann did military service in the Bundeswehr from 1988 to 1990 ; his current rank is lieutenant colonel in the reserve. From 1991 to 1999 he studied history, philosophy and law in Göttingen and Marburg / Lahn. He finished his studies with a Magister Artium ; He wrote his master's thesis on economic policy in Hungary after the end of Turkish rule. In 2001/02 he was entrusted by the Osteroder District Council with the preparation of a study funded by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs on the use of forced labor in the district of Osterode am Harz during the Second World War. After working on his dissertation from 1999 to 2004 with research stays in Hungary and Croatia , in 2004 he was appointed to the chair for Medieval and Modern History Hermann Wellenreuther at the Philosophical Faculty of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen about Baranya in the 17th and 18th centuries Century to the Dr. phil. PhD.

He has been a freelance historian and writer since 2003, and in 2015 he wrote his first novel . He is also a lecturer at the chair for the history of the early modern period with special consideration of social and economic history (Professorship Jutta Nowosadtko ) at the faculty for humanities and social sciences at the Helmut Schmidt University . He also took part in scientific conferences. His work focuses on German social history in the 19th and 20th centuries, the history of Southeast Europe and modern security policy .

Gattermann worked on the edition of the Germania Benedictina of the Bavarian Benedictine Academy. He published several monographs and articles in anthologies ( yearbook of historical research, etc.). From 2008 he also prepared studies for the Federal Ministry of Defense . Gattermann is married and has three children.
