Jordan Oesterle (born June 25, 1992 in Dearborn Heights , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Arizona Coyotes from the National Hockey League since July 2018 and plays for them in the position of defender .
Career
Oesterle first spent his junior years in the 2010/11 season at the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League . From there he enrolled at Western Michigan University without drafting in the summer of 2011 . In parallel to his studies, the defender played for the university's ice hockey team for the next three years. First two years in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and then in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference , both divisions in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In his rookie year at the university, he won the division championship with the team.
After the 2013/14 college season, Oesterle was signed by the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League in March 2014 . They used him for the rest of the season and the following with their farm team , the Oklahoma City Barons , in the American Hockey League . After changing the cooperation partner, Oesterle has been part of the Bakersfield Condors team in the AHL since the beginning of the 2014/15 season . The defender celebrated his NHL debut for the Oilers in the same game year, but could not establish himself there permanently.
After three years in Edmonton, the Oilers did not renew his expiring contract after the 2016/17 season, so he joined the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent in July 2017 . The Blackhawks gave him in July 2018, along with Vinnie Hinostroza and a third-round vote in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, to the Arizona Coyotes , who also took over the contract from Marián Hossa . In return, the Blackhawks received Marcus Krüger , Jordan Maletta , Andrew Campbell , MacKenzie Entwistle and a five-round vote in the same draft.
International
At the 2018 World Cup , Oesterle took part in an international tournament for the first time and won the bronze medal there with the USA national team .
