Andrew Campbell (born February 4, 1988 in Caledonia , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last until July 2019 with the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League (NHL) and for their farm team , the Rockford IceHogs , in the American Hockey League was used.
Career
Campbell began his career with Sault Ste in the 2005/06 season . Marie Greyhounds , for whom he was on the ice for the following three seasons in the Junior League Ontario Hockey League . Immediately after the Los Angeles Kings had secured the transfer rights to the Canadian as part of the NHL Entry Draft , he played between 2008 and 2013 initially exclusively for their farm team , the Manchester Monarchs , in the American Hockey League . After Campbell had already signed a two-way contract with the Kings in the summer of 2012 , he made three appearances in the NHL for the first time in the 2013/14 season, but still spent most of the season with the Monarchs in the AHL and acted as their team captain .
In the summer of 2014, the defensive player signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Coyotes , where he is regularly used in both the NHL and the AHL with the Portland Pirates farm team in the 2014/15 season .
After a year with the Coyotes, he joined the Toronto Marlies from the AHL in July 2015 . Two months later, he also signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs , which allows him to play in both the NHL and AHL.
After spending two years in Toronto, Campbell returned to the Arizona Coyotes as a free agent in July 2017 . This put him in the 2017/18 season exclusively with the Tucson Roadrunners in the AHL, before he was handed over to the Blackhawks in July 2018 together with Marcus Krüger , Jordan Maletta , MacKenzie Entwistle and a five-round vote in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft . In return, the Coyotes Vinnie Hinostroza , Jordan Oesterle and a third-round vote in the same draft and also took over the contract of Marián Hossa . After the 2018/19 season, his expiring contract was not extended.
