Christian Fischer (born April 15, 1997 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Arizona Coyotes from the National Hockey League since August 2015 and plays for them in the position of right winger .
Career
Fischer initially played youth ice hockey in his hometown with the Chicago Mission until 2013 . After being selected by the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL Priority Selection in the summer of 2013 , the striker initially decided against continuing his career in the league system of the Canadian Hockey League and instead switched to the US National Team Development Program of the US hockey association USA Hockey . Between 2013 and 2015 he played there for the U17 and U18 teams in the United States Hockey League and at international level. In the summer of 2015 he was finally selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2015 in the second round in 32nd position by the Arizona Coyotes from the National Hockey League .
The Coyotes signed Fischer in August 2015 and ordered that he should spend the 2015/16 season for further development in the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires. There the American was the best player of his team with 90 scorer points in 66 appearances and tenth place in the league. After the team's early failure in the play-offs , the attacker switched to the professional field at the end of the season and was used by Arizona's farm team , the Springfield Falcons , in the American Hockey League . In the following season, Fischer was part of the team of the new cooperation partner, the Tucson Roadrunners . After he knew how to convince there in the first half of the season, he was appointed to the Coyotes' NHL squad for the first time in January 2017, where he scored two goals in three appearances before returning to the farm team in Tucson.
At the beginning of the 2017/18 season, Fischer established himself in the Coyote line-up.
International
Fischer represented his home country at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in January 2014 and the U18 World Junior Championship in 2005 . At both tournaments, the US team was able to travel home with the gold medal in their luggage. In the World U-17 Hockey Challenge, the attacker contributed just as many scorer points in six games. Among his two goals was one in the final. At the U18 Junior World Championship he contributed eight points in seven tournament games, including one goal.
