Conor Garland (born March 11, 1996 in Scituate , Massachusetts ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Arizona Coyotes from the National Hockey League since December 2015 and plays there in the position of right winger .
Career
Garland played with the Boston Junior Bruins, among others, during his youth . In the summer of 2012, the winger was then selected in both the Entry Draft of the United States Hockey League and the Entry Draft of the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . The American initially decided to stay in his home country and therefore joined the Muskegon Lumberjacks from the USHL for the 2012/13 season. He played only six games for the team until December 2012 and moved to the Canadian Junior League LHJMQ during the season, where he played for the Moncton Wildcats . In 31 appearances, including the playoffs, Garland posted 17 points scorer in his rookie season . In the following game year, which was his first complete in the league, he rose to 54 points. There were also five more in the playoffs.
The following game year was marked by a performance explosion Garlands. With 129 points, he was the top scorer of the LHJMQ and received the trophy Jean Béliveau for it . He also shared the CHL Top Scorer Award of the Canadian Hockey League with Dylan Strome . His 94 assists were also the best in the LHJMQ. He was also elected to the league's First All-Star team and at the end of the season also received the Michel Brière trophy as the league's most valuable player . The attacker was then selected in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft in 123rd place by the Arizona Coyotes from the National Hockey League . In the 2015/16 season , Garland confirmed the performance of the previous season. With 128 points, he again won the Jean Béliveau trophy and the CHL Top Scorer Award. He was also part of the LHJMQ First All-Star Team for the second time. In the playoffs, however, the team failed - as in the previous year - in the semifinals.
After Garland in December 2015 the Arizona Coyotes per entry contract had been committed, he reinforced with the start of the season 2016/17 , the farm team of the Coyotes, the Tucson Roadrunners , in the American Hockey League . In his first two years as a professional, the offensive player came exclusively to the AHL and played 55 games each season, increasing from 14 to 27 points. In the first third of the 2018/19 season , Garland collected 19 scorer points in the first 18 games. This gave him his first appointment to the Arizona's NHL squad in December 2018, where he was mainly used until the end of the season and recorded 18 points in 47 games. As a result, he earned a regular place with the Coyotes.
