Clemente d'Olera
Clemente d'Olera , OFMObs (born June 20, 1501 in Moneglia Castle , † January 6, 1568 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
Joined the order of the Franciscan Observants at a young age , he was professor of theology and philosophy for many years . In 1538 he was then Provincial of his Order in Bologna and in 1541 Definitor and General Procurator in Mantua . Since 1545 vicar general of his order in Corsica , he was sent to various offices in 1553 Minister General of his order. Pope Julius III appointed him on January 1, 1555 inquisitor in Spain .
Raised cardinal on March 15, 1557, he was appointed to the titular church of Santa Maria in Aracoeli on March 24, 1557 . Archpriest of Rapallo since 1558 , he participated in the conclave of 1559 and was appointed prefect of the Holy Inquisition by Pope Paul IV . From March 13, 1560 he was also Bishop of Foligno . In the conclave of 1565–1566 he was considered papabile . He was also Vice Cardinal Protector of the German Nation .
