Moneglia ( Ligurian Munéga or Monegia ) is an Italian commune with 2,684 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Genoa in the Liguria region .

The municipality is located near the Petroni Valley on the Riviera di Levante . The distance to the Ligurian capital Genoa is about 55 kilometers.

The village lies in a bay bounded by two mountain ledges and is surrounded by rich Mediterranean vegetation. In the west is the Punta Moneglia (also Monte Venino ) promontory , in the east the Punta Rospo . While the first is largely untouched, the Punta Rospo is built on by various residential buildings that cover an area up to the Lemeglio settlement .

Together with Casarza Ligure , Castiglione Chiavarese and Sestri Levante, the municipality forms the mountain municipality of Val Petronio .

Since 1990 Moneglia has been awarded the Blue Flag every year for the excellent quality of its beaches, sea water, services and the environment in general. On November 29, 2005, the municipality's environmental management system was certified according to ISO 14001 . The place is a member of the association I borghi più belli d'Italia (The Most Beautiful Places in Italy).

According to the Italian classification for seismic activity , Moneglia was assigned to Zone 3A (on a scale from 1 to 4 and A and B). This means that the community is in a seismically inactive zone.
