Industry and power plants

In the 1890s, hydropower plants were built above Isoverde to supply industry with electricity in Val Polcevera and Genoa . The machine houses Galvani , Volta and Pacinotti operated by the Acquedotto De Ferrari Galliera used the water from the Laghi del Gorzente . The energy was transmitted to the consumers with high-voltage direct current according to a system developed by René Thury .

The three power plants were replaced in 1904 by the power plant in Isoverde that still exists today. The Galvani machine house has been preserved as a residential building, as has the base of the transmission, which was used to drive the jute mill on the other side of the valley, but was replaced early on by an electrical power transmission.
