geography

The location of the municipality is conventionally indicated with the lower section of the Fontanabuona valley . However, the territory of Carasco mainly includes the valley crossing of the Valle Sturla and Val Graveglia . Together with 16 other municipalities, Carasco forms the Comunità Montana Fontanabuona .

Carasco is traversed by the three rivers Lavagna , Sturla and Graveglia , the first two of which form the Entella river , which flows into the Ligurian Sea between the coastal towns of Lavagna and Chiavari .

The toponym of the community goes back to the words car (German: head, boss, main) and asco (German: watercourse) and describes the geographical location of the first settlement from which Carasco was to emerge.
