Avegno ( Ligurian Avëgno ) is an Italian municipality in the metropolitan city of Genoa with 2525 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Avegno in Liguria

The municipality is located in the hinterland of the city of Recco on the Golfo Paradiso of the Ligurian Sea . The distance to the Ligurian capital Genoa is about 25 kilometers. Avegno is located on the upper course of the Recco brook , which flows through the municipality with the Arbora brook .

The municipality is mostly hilly; the highest mountains are Monte Caravaggio (507 meters) and Monte Bello (657 meters).

The hinterland of the municipality of Avegno forms part of the Comunità Montana Fontanabuona . The municipality itself is divided into four districts: Avegno, Molino Nuovo, Salto and Testana . Furthermore, the settlements Arbora, Lupara, Pietrafitta and Vescina are included in Avegno.

According to the Italian classification for seismic activity , Avegno has been assigned to zone 4. This means that the community is in a seismically inert zone.
