Coșava (popularly: Corșova ; German: Koschowa , Coschova , Hungarian: Kossó , Kossova ) is a village in Timiș County , Banat , Romania . Coșava belongs to the municipality of Curtea .

Geographical location

Coșava is located in the far east of Timiș County, near the border with Hunedoara County , 9 kilometers from Făget , on the national road DN 68A, Lugoj - Deva .

history

The first documentary mention of the village comes from 1405. In 1597 Sigismund Báthory donated the Kosava estate to István Török. On the Josephine land survey of 1717 the place Coschova is registered with 30 houses. After the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary . The official place name changes between Kossova and Kossõ . The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three, which resulted in Coșova falling to the Kingdom of Romania . The place was popularly called Coșoa , Corșova , Coșiava .

In the building of the Alte Post, which was demolished in 1957, Alexandru Ioan Cuza stayed in 1866 on his way to exile in Heidelberg .
