The Coise is a river in France that runs in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It has its source in the Monts du Lyonnais , in the municipality of Saint-Romain-en-Jarez . The Coise initially drains north-east, then turns west to south-west and reaches the Loire Valley at Saint-Galmier . From here it runs parallel to the Loire in a north-westerly direction and flows into the Loire as a right tributary after a total of 50 kilometers at Montrond-les-Bains . On its way, the Coise crosses the Rhône and Loire departments .
