Collin Danielsmeier (born July 8, 1980 in Dortmund , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a former German ice hockey player who played for the Iserlohn Roosters , Kölner Haie and Frankfurt Lions in the German Ice Hockey League . He was under contract in Iserlohn for 17 seasons and is the record player in Sauerland ice hockey with 684 professional games.

Career

Danielsmeier began his career in 1987 in the Bambini team of the ERC Westphalia Dortmund . In the period that followed, he went through all of the youth teams at the ERC Westphalia and its successor clubs. Collin Danielsmeier made his first appearances as a professional for the Iserlohner EC , for which the player, who was still a striker at the time, was on the ice six times in the second-class first division . After his debut season, the left-handed shooter rose to the German ice hockey league with the Sauerland in 2000 and became German champion at the same time as the juniors .

At the beginning of 2002 Danielsmeier switched to the Kölner Haien , with whom he won the DEL championship title in the same year. For the following season , the attacker signed a contract with the Frankfurt Lions , who relegated athletically, but were allowed to remain in the DEL due to the insolvency of Schwenninger Wild Wings . After another short and unsuccessful interlude in Cologne, Danielsmeier moved back to Iserlohn in early 2004 , where he was first used as a defender by coach Doug Mason due to lack of defenders during the 2004/05 season .

At the beginning of 2005 Danielsmeier, who only became a national player as a defender, extended his contract in the Sauerland until 2007 , which was initially extended for another year after the season. Danielsmeier was supposed to take on his role as a leading player on and off the ice , especially after Erich Goldmann's departure, and to contribute to the club's external image. In the 07/08 season , the Iserlohner home grown was again one of the pillars in defense and also played his DEL season with the highest points, although he was only able to play 32 games due to a complicated armbreak in the game against the Eisbären Berlin .

After the main round, Danielsmeier's contract was extended by two years. Under the new coach Steve Stirling , he did not find his usual form in the 2008/09 season and was now used as a fourth row striker. After the coach's dismissal, Danielsmeier played in defense again. In the 2009/10 season he found his way back to his old strengths and, as usual, played inconspicuously and effectively together with Jon Insana and later Stefan Langwieder . After missing the play-offs, the Roosters announced their interest in extending their contract with Danielsmeier. On April 30, 2010, the Iserlohn company announced the extension of the contract by one year. After the last game of the main round of the following season, which the club from the Sauerland finished in twelfth place, the Roosters' record player announced the end of his ice hockey career.

Danielsmeier announced his resignation in December 2011. After the Iserlohn Roosters had to fight with considerable problems in the defense in the current season, Danielsmeier returned to the Iserlohn squad. He stayed there until 2015 before finally ending his career.
