Collines ( German hill ) is a department of Benin with the capital Savalou . The city has not yet been officially named the capital, but performs all functions of the capital.

The department is located in the middle of the country and borders in the north-west with the department Donga , in the north-east with the department Borgou , in the south-west with the department Zou , in the south-east with the department Plateau , in the west with Togo and in the east with Nigeria .

Ethnic groups
The largest peoples are the Nagot with 26.5%, the Mahi with 25.7%, the Idaasha with 14.9%, the Fon with 13.0% and the Ife with 4.8% of the total population.
Religions
With almost three fifths (exactly 59.3%), followers of Christianity are now in the majority (including 66% Catholics and 14% Methodists). With 14.1% of the population, Islam has also created a certain basis. Of the traditional religions, the Voudou cult is the largest single religion with 14.3%. Some of the Christians are also likely to secretly practice this cult.

Collines was created in 1999 when it separated from the Zou department .
