action
A naval unit of the Navy Seals is assigned the task of catching the most dangerous terrorist in the world, called Casper, alive. When they storm his quarters on the Aegean coast, they only meet Casper's henchman and explosives expert Andreas Trassus and take him prisoner. Under torture, he reveals Casper's plan to steal a cluster bomb called Stormbringer from stocks of the defunct Soviet Union on the transport route, which is to be delivered to Albanian freedom fighters in Kosovo in the near future . Andreas is persuaded to cooperate and accompanies the Navy Seals as a tour guide to Albania .
With Andreas 'help, Captain Jeffries' team actually succeeds in stealing the transporter with the explosive cargo from the hands of the Russian soldiers who are inclined to drink alcohol. Lieutenant Baker is shot in the action and needs to be taken care of as soon as possible. Andreas leads the group to an old, remote quarry. There they are met by Casper's armed cronies. Andreas comes out to his American companions as Casper, takes their weapons from them and immediately keeps them prisoner in an underground warehouse.
Baker's untreated wound begins to rot, he suffers. Regardless of this, Casper takes the captain aside in a quiet minute and explains the aim and motive of his terrorist ambitions to him. His wife and young son were killed by an American dud five years earlier in the conflict in Yugoslavia . Casper seeks revenge. He now wants to take the captured Stormbringer bomb to the American coast by container ship and detonate it there.
The seals manage to escape one night. With the last of his strength, Baker steers an empty truck into a nearby gravel pit as a distraction and thus sacrifices his life. The terrorists are supposed to think all the Navys in the truck are dead. Instead, they escape on foot.
The next morning, Casper's men with the bomb made their way to the port of Odessa , where Jeffries' heavily armed troops with bazookas were waiting for them. Jacobs shoots the driver of the truck carrying the bomb on Jeffrie's orders. The truck then steers uncontrollably into the harbor basin. Captain Jeffries, qualified by his first-class diver training in the US Navy, dives for the bomb and dismantles the detonator in order to defuse it. Meanwhile, Casper flees with a speedboat onto an already leaked freighter. Jeffries and Miller steer a second speedboat loaded with a box of hand grenades at top speed onto the freighter and jump overboard a few hundred meters before the impact. The subsequent collision and explosion caused the freighter to leak and sink.
background
The film was shot in the Bulgarian capital Sofia . The water photos were taken in Lake Pancharevo, on the south-eastern outskirts of Sofia. Post-processing took place in Sofia and Burbank (California).

Reviews
"An action film that doesn't worry about logic and political contexts in search of a veritable villain, but gives way to pyrotechnics that let off steam on a modest level."
“Unfortunately, the film makes a big mistake in terms of storytelling and presents a few hints of Casper's true identity too much. […] In between there are always wonderfully powerful and broadly played explosions to be admired, which are captured more than impressively by the cameraman Don E. Fauntleroy and which testify to above-average manual skill. [...] The soundtrack is also very successful. This creates a real atmosphere every now and then [...]. The result is really not a revelation in the action genre, but thanks to the sleek continuous action, noble photography and nice pace at least a small highlight in the swamp of various lousy Special Forces flicks. "
“This film tends to follow the traditional paths of the 80s action film. Tough men, tensions between the main actors and, above all, the whole film takes itself very seriously, the actors, thank God, don't squeal their way through the sets, but a serious assignment is approached with the necessary seriousness. He becomes human because the captain and the terrorist can't even smell each other, but the captain sometimes has to admit that he has to agree with the terrorist on many points. Fortunately, there is also a little criticism of the US government and its way of proving its power penetratingly on the table. "COMMANDO DEEP SEA" is certainly not a blockbuster and will certainly not win any originality awards, but one of those films that can be described as "solid" and of course also entertaining. "
“It is a blasting movie with a lot of action and without a lot of plot. The story is predictable and, of course, occurs exactly as it is. "
