Avi Lerner

Avi Lerner (born October 13, 1947 in Haifa , now Israel ) is an Israeli film producer . To date, Lerner has been involved in more than 200 film productions, most of which can be assigned to the action genre . His younger brother Danny Lerner also worked as a film producer.

Life

Before starting his career in the film business, he studied economics and social science at Tel Aviv University . He then served in the Israeli army.

In 1969 he moved to South Africa and eventually became the manager of a cinema there. In 1972 he gained further experience in the film business as manager of the first drive-in cinema in Israel. Lerner then ran his own cinema chain and founded his production company Nu Metro Entertainment Group in South Africa in 1986 , which he later sold.

In 1992 he founded the Los Angeles- based production company Nu Image , from which the subsidiary Millennium Films was formed in 1996 . In 2005, Lerner acquired the Bulgaria-based Nu Boyana Film Studios , known as the largest film studios in Eastern Europe .

Lerner first worked as an executive producer in 1984 and The Last Winter was born . Two years later he was involved in the same role in the film Quatermain II - In Search of the Mysterious City . As a producer or executive producer, he is responsible for films as diverse as American Fighter II - The Mission and The Black Dahlia . The actors whose films he regularly produces include Steven Seagal , Jean-Claude Van Damme , Dolph Lundgren and Sylvester Stallone .
