The Communauté de communes Charente-Arnoult-Cœur de Saintonge is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It was founded on December 30, 1993 and comprises 18 parishes. The administrative headquarters are in Saint-Porchaire .

The community association was founded on December 30, 1993 with originally 16 members. On January 1, 2013, the municipalities of Balanzac and Nancras were added.

location

The community association is located between the cities of Saintes and Rochefort and is part of the historic cultural landscape of the Saintonge .

landscape

From sea level to a maximum of about 70 meters above sea level. d. M. extending landscape has a slightly undulating profile. The soils are largely sandy, which indicates sea and / or river deposits. The soils are used for agriculture and cattle breeding and so fields and meadows determine the landscape.

The soils of the community association belong to the Bois ordinaires et communs of the wine-growing region Cognac . Attractions

Almost every community in the community association has a Romanesque church; There are also several castles from the 15th to 18th centuries. Century, but most of them are privately owned and cannot be visited. Some remains of megalithic dolmens can also be seen.
