geography

The main part of the area of ​​the Communauté de communes du Plateau de Frasne et du Val du Drugeon is taken up by the wide area of ​​the Plateau of Frasne (also called the high plateau of Arlier), which is on average 840 m above sea level. The Drugeon , which drains the Doubs , flows in the southeast of this plain . The area along the Drugeon, the high moors south of Frasne and the surrounding calm waters (Étang de Frasne, Étang Lucien, Étang Berthelot, Étang de Bouverans) are designated as Natura 2000 protected areas. In the far south-east, the area of ​​the municipal association extends to the over 1000 m high mountain ranges of the Folded Jura with the Montagne du Laveron and the Haute Joux, which are made up of extensive forests. In contrast, the Frasne plain is mainly used for agriculture.
