geography

The Communauté de communes Altitude 800 is named after the second Jura plateau , which here reaches a height of around 800 m above sea level. The main part of the area is taken up by the wide area of the Levier plateau, which is covered in the south by the wooded ridges of the Forêt du Scay, Forêt de Maublin and Bois de la Chapelle (up to 900 m), in the north by the ridge of the Malveau (up to 937 m) is limited. In the south near Chapelle-d'Huin, the area extends to the edge of the Arlier plateau. To the east, the area of the municipal association extends into the valley of the Val d'Usiers at the foot of the ridge of the Mont Séverin. While the ridges are predominantly forested, the plateaus are used for agriculture (especially dairy farming and cattle breeding). There are no significant watercourses in the entire area because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. The water returns to the surface of the earth in the karst springs of Loue and Lison below the plateau.

tasks

The tasks of the community association include the development and promotion of tourism, the creation of jobs, economic development, garbage disposal, drinking water treatment and wastewater treatment as well as the construction and maintenance of cultural and sporting facilities.
