The Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) ( English Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) , short CPGB-ML) is a communist party in the UK . Your youth association is the "Red Youth" ( dt. Rote Jugend ). Its organ is the bimonthly magazine "Proletarian".

history

The party was founded on July 3, 2004 in London by excluded members of the “Socialist Labor Party” who followed a Marxist-Leninist policy and wanted to break politically with social democracy . In 2010 the youth association "Red Youth" was founded.

ideology

The CPGB-ML is “a party that is overtly based on Marxism-Leninism, class struggle and proletarian internationalism”, a “Leninist type party”. It refers to the socio-political and economic ideas of Marx , Engels , Lenin and Stalin . In this sense she sees the death of Stalin and the XX. Congress of the CPSU marked the beginning of revisionism in the Soviet Union , which for them was marked by the subsequent economic reforms and the criticism of and departure from Stalin's orthodox communist policies and justified the policies of the Communist Party of China and the Party of Labor of Albania during the 1960s . The collapse of the Eastern bloc is assessed as a “painful experience”: “We have to see that after the counterrevolution, wars are being waged on a completely new scale - not only against the Third World, but also in Europe, namely in Yugoslavia. And we have a whole new dimension of oppression of the working class in our own country. "

The Labor Party is, in their opinion, “a bourgeois party, it is a party of imperialism, it is a party that attacks the working people at home and wages war against oppressed peoples abroad.” The CPGB-ML thinks the other communist parties in Great Britain supported the Labor, "so we really don't have much in common with the other communist parties."

The CPGB-ML regards the current world economic crisis as the “death throes of capitalism”, triggered by a major overproduction crisis that only exacerbates the social grievances. “Now our relative security will come to an end and it seems very possible that the working masses of Britain, Europe, the US and Japan will be plunged into misery on Third World proportions. ... The longer the working people allow capitalism to stay, the more will suffer. "

The task of the communists is to "bring socialist consciousness into the [workers] movement, to bundle the various struggles and to show that their common request is directed against capitalism."

Members

The party is said to have had fewer than 50 members, according to a 2008 report by the rival Communist Party of Britain .

Engagement in movements

The CPGB-ML supports the Irish independence movement. Party members are also active in their respective unions and pensioners' campaigns.

The CPGB-ML was also active in the “Stop the War Coalition” until it was expelled in autumn 2011.

Foreign policy

The CPGB-ML describes itself as "the only consistently anti-imperialist party in Britain". From this it derives its support for Syria , Hezbollah , Iran , Hamas ; the militant Nepalese Maoists ; Zimbabwe ; North Korea , Cuba , Venezuela and the People's Republic of China . She also supports the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia .

The Labor Party of Korea and the CPGB-ML maintain close and friendly relations with one another, which was expressed, among other things, in several visits by high-level delegations from the CPGB-ML, most recently in April 2012. In June 2012, a delegation led by party leader Harpal Brar was received by representatives of the Communist Party of Cuba .

In addition, the CPGB-ML supported the resistance against the US occupiers in Iraq , the former President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya and, in 2011, the Gaddafi regime of Libya , which it demonstratively denied during a visit to Tripoli by a delegation led by party leader Harpal Brar Back strengthened.

Known members

Harpal Brar has been the party's long-time chairman, the current party chairman Ella Rule was the party's secretary for international affairs for many years. Former general secretary Zane Carpenter is now one of the party's vice chairmen.
