The railway company Transnordestina Logística S / A belongs to the group of companies of the steel company Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional . Until 1998, this line was one of the state railway company Rffsa and called himself Companhia Ferroviária do Nordeste S / A . The railway line connects the Brazilian states of Sergipe , Alagoas , Pernambuco , Paraíba , Rio Grande do Norte , Ceará , Piauí and the state of Maranhão and has a route network of 4,238 km. A total of 72 locomotives operate on this route network  . The main administration of the railway is in Fortaleza in the state of Ceará.

Expansion projects

Since 2006, the Transnordestina has been building a new T-shaped broad-gauge line (1600 mm) to the ports of Pecém and Suape . However, the project is several years behind schedule.
