The Conduppelbach is a right tributary of the Pöhlbach in Saxony and the Czech Republic .
course
The Conduppelbach rises on the ridge of the Middle Ore Mountains north of the road between Vejprty (Weipert) and the district of Černý Potok (Pleil-Sorgenthal) belonging to Kryštofovy Hamry (Christophhammer ). For the entire length of five kilometers, it flows directly north. At the former inn “Weißer Hirsch”, now known as “Berghof”, the stream reaches the Czech-German border. Here it crosses halfway under the road from Kühberg to Jöhstadt .
The lower reaches of the Conduppelbach leads through a wooded valley with a few resting places and climbing rocks. The most famous rock is called "Gypsy Rock". At 737 m, it is the highest point in the municipality of Königswalde. Shortly before the confluence on the southern outskirts of the settlement Brettmühle , which belongs to Königswalde , the Conduppelbach is dammed into a pond. Then it crosses under the “Bärensteiner Straße” and a few meters later it flows into the Pöhlbach .
Surname
The name of the Conduppelbach goes back to the Old Sorbian word "Konotopla", which means "horse drink" or "horse pond". Traditional spellings are Kuntoppel (1557), Contoppel (1591), Contoppelbach (1600).
tourism
The German part of the Conduppelbach valley from Berghof over the Zigeunerfelsen to the mouth in Brettmühle is easily accessible by a hiking trail. In addition to stage 7 of the Erzgebirge-Vogtland ridge trail from Statut to Bärenstein , the Annaberger Landring (southwest part of the southern ring) runs through the valley.
