The Confluence shopping and leisure center is located in the Confluence district of Lyon , halfway between the Perrache in the north and the confluence at the tip of the Presqu'île in the south and thus opposite the administrative headquarters of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region .

history

After planning the project in 2001, a long phase of planning and renovation began before construction could begin. The foundation stone was laid in 2007. The interior, designed by the architect Jean-Paul Viguier , is heavily inspired by the world of the seas and boats. The center opened on April 4, 2012.

General

General administration lies with Unibail-Rodamco , while Camille Delomez oversees the leisure and retail departments. The center has a retail area of ​​more than 53,000 m². There are 75 boutiques, 26 restaurants, a cinema ( UGC ) with 14 halls, a car park with 1,400 spaces and a hotel with 150 rooms. At the opening, 800 jobs were offered.

Frequentation

In the months after the opening, only around 2.5 million visitors came due to the poor transport connections. That changed over time and in 2013 there were already 6.9 million visitors, which of course also increased sales. In 2014 and 2015, the number of visitors increased to 7.9 and 8.9 million people. In 2016 there was a further increase, but it was weaker (9.2 million).

The management of the shopping center suggests a "boat line". This should run on the Saône , have 4 stations and, with the exception of the winter season, run between 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Suggested stops are: Confluence, Quai des Célestins near Bellecour , Quai de Bondy near Gare Saint-Paul and finally Quai Arloing in the Vaise district. The latter station opened on March 20, 2017.

Parking spaces

The center has two large parking spaces (chargeable) in the basement and on different shopping levels. Access is via rue Montrochet. The centre's “loyalty program” allows free parking for a limited time. Outside of this free parking, the parking time is every 15 minutes.
