Connecticut National Guard

The Connecticut National Guard (CTNG) of the US state of Connecticut is part of the established in 1903, National Guard of the United States ( akronymisiert USNG ) and thus also part of the second level of the military reserve of the United States Armed Forces .

The National Guard are voluntary service militiamen who report to Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont . Adjutant General of Connecticut has been Major General Francis J. Evon Jr. since 2018.

The Connecticut National Guard traces its roots back to 1672 militia groups. The national guards of the states have been federally and institutionally closely linked to the regular army and air force since 1903 , so that the federal level can fall back on them under certain circumstances with the consent of Congress . The President of the United States is the commander-in-chief for federal missions .

The Connecticut National Guard consists of the two branches of the Army and the Air Force , namely the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard . Separate from this is the State Guard , the Connecticut State Militia , which is solely committed to the state and consists of 4 companies.

The Connecticut Army National Guard had 3483 manpower in 2017 and the Connecticut Air National Guard 1004 manpower for a total of 4487 manpower.
