The Tupolev Tu-110 ( Russian Туполев Ту-110 , NATO code name : "Cooker" ) was a Soviet airliner and a further development of the Tupolew Tu-104 with four AL-7P engines and a range of 3,300 km.

The aim was to develop the Tu-104A into a more economical aircraft with a longer range. In addition, the export chances should be improved, since one expected a higher reliability from an airplane with four engines. The fuselage was lengthened by 1.21 m, the passenger compartment floor raised by 140 mm and the cargo hold floor lowered by 210 mm, which resulted in the latter being enlarged by 28 m³. Since two engines were installed next to each other per wing, the span increased by a total of 2.40 m. Other changes were enlarged landing flaps and the installation of airbrakes under the engines. The first flight took place on March 11, 1957 by D. Sjusin. While the prototype was still being built, it was decided to take the machine over to regular service and offer it for export. Series production began in 1957 at the Kazan aircraft factory , the series machines were given the designation Tu-110A. After three machines, however, production was stopped because the hoped-for improvements compared to the Tu-104 were only minor, and the engines did not work properly. However, the improvements to the fuselage were adopted for the Tu-104B.

The prototype was converted to four Solowjow D-20P engines towards the end of the 1950s and used as a flying laboratory. The three series machines were also equipped with D-20P engines and designated as Tu-110B. They were used in the test program for the construction of the Tu-124 . They were then used to test various electronic equipment.

At the same time as the construction of the Tu-124A, the later Tupolev Tu-134 , there were considerations to develop a version with stern engines (four D-20P) from the Tu-110. This project was named Tu-110D, but was not continued.
