The Tupolev Tu-2000 ( Russo Туполев Ту-2000 ) was the project of a hypersonic - Bombers , who by OKB Tupolev for the Soviet Union was developed. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian Air Force initially took over the development until the project was finally canceled in 1992. On August 19, 2009 Tupolev announced that they would develop a similar aircraft with the PAK DA .

Design and development

The development of the Tu-2000 was a reaction to the American Rockwell X-30 . After the collapse of the Soviet Union , Russia continued the project until it had to be canceled in 1992 for lack of money. A ramjet engine was intended to drive the Tu-2000 , which should accelerate the aircraft up to Mach 6. Parallel to the Tu-2000, the MiG-301 was also developed, for which a ramjet engine was also planned.
