Coraopolis is located on the south bank of the Ohio River a few kilometers below Pittsburgh. The city is 40 ° 31'06 "north latitude and 80 ° 10'00" west longitude and extends over 3.4 km². The intersection of the three states of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia , where the Ohio leaves Pennsylvania, is 42.2 km northwest of Coraopolis.

The Pennsylvania State Route 51 , which runs parallel to the Ohio, runs through the center of Coraopolis . A road branches off from this and leads over the Coraopolis Bridge to the Neville Township on an island in Ohio. About one kilometer west of Coraopolis, Interstate 79 crosses the Ohio over the Neville Island Bridge .
The CSX Transportation railroad runs through Coraopolis and runs west along the Ohio.
The Pittsburgh International Airport is located 16.8 km southwest of Coraopolis.

According to the 2010 census , Coraopolis had 5,677 people in 2,680 households. The population density was 1669.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.10 people lived in 2680 households.
