Cortland Finnegan Temujin (* 2. February 1984 in Fayetteville , North Carolina ) is a former American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Tennessee Titans , St. Louis Rams , Miami Dolphins and the Carolina Panthers as cornerback . Most recently he was under contract with the New Orleans Saints .

college

Finnegan attended Samford University and played for their team, the Bulldogs, in the secondary and in the special teams college football . In 44 games he set 338 tackles and defended 26 passes, he also managed nine interceptions . As a kickoff returner , he gained 1,980 yards of space and three touchdowns .

NFL

Tennessee Titans

In the 2006 NFL Draft , he was selected in the seventh round as a total of 215 players by the Tennessee Titans . Already in his rookie season he was used in all games, twice as a starter . In the following seasons he developed into a support in the defensive backfield of the Titans. Until 2011 he was a starter in all matches, only in 2010 he had to miss three games due to an injury. In 2008 he was called up for his achievements in the Pro Bowl .

St. Louis Rams

From 2012 to 2013 he was under contract with the St. Louis Rams , where he maintained his level. In 2013, Finnegan could only play seven games due to a fracture of the left eye socket .

Miami Dolphins

In the 2014 season he played for the Miami Dolphins , but was then fired in March 2015, whereupon he announced his retirement from professional sports.

Carolina Panthers

Nevertheless, he signed a contract with the Carolina Panthers on November 30, 2015 after their starting cornerback Charles Tillman was injured. He was even able to reach Super Bowl 50 with the team , but they lost it to the Denver Broncos .

New Orleans Saints

On August 12, 2016, Finnegan was signed by the New Orleans Saints . He was supposed to reinforce the defense , which in the preseason allowed 284 yards per game in the passing game , with his routine, but was released on September 6, 2016, just before the start of the season.
