Couronne Nord (also: Kouronne Nord ) is a district ( French : quartier ) in the Arrondissement Niamey III of the city of Niamey in Niger .

geography

Couronne Nord (French for "north wreath") is located in the northeast of the urban municipality of Niamey. The surrounding districts are Banifandou II in the north, Bandabari in the east, Boukoki IV in the south and Djeddah Koira Mè in the west. The district covers an area of about 58.4 hectares and is like the entire northern Niamey in a plateau with a less than 2.5 meters deep layer of sand, only a limited infiltration is thereby possible.

The standard scheme for street names in Couronne Nord is rue CN 1 , where the French rue for street is followed by CN for Couronne Nord and finally a number. This goes back to a project to name streets in Niamey in 2002, in which the city was divided into 44 zones, each with its own letter abbreviations.

history

The Couronne Nord district was created in 1974. Apartments for the middle class were built here.

population

At the 2012 census, Couronne Nord had 7943 inhabitants who lived in 1341 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 8,085 in 1,298 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 5,776 in 1,083 households.

Infrastructure

There are several public primary schools in the district. The oldest, the Ecole primaire de Couronne Nord I , was founded in 1983.
