Craimar is a hamlet-like district of Breitungen / Werra in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .

location

Craimar is located west of Breitungen and Werra in their lowlands. The area rising to the west after the hamlet is wooded on the slopes and hills.

history

The farm was first mentioned on February 19, 1318. A few settled individual agricultural farms belonged to Breitungen, which then developed further. This also included Craimar.

In Craimar, the Breitungen community's new cemetery was laid out in 1936 after the old cemetery in today's Friedenspark was fully occupied. A large piece of land outside the settlement limits was searched for and finally found on the edge of the forest near Craimar. After the Second World War , numerous victims of forced labor from Breitungen and the surrounding communities were buried in the cemetery. A memorial was erected in her memory.
